What we did in Math 6 class today.
Oct 21 - Started investigations on 6PR5 - Preservation of Equality. Students were given a fun booklet that helps with problem solving, logical reasoning, and preservation of equality.
Oct 16 - Reviewed Divisibility rules. Students have been taking a quiz every day and restating the rules and giving examples of numbers that are divisible by the rule and numbers that are not and explain why. If your student cannot tell you the rules please contact me and I will give them to you so you can help your student study.
Oct 15 - Today we had a quiz on Divisibility rules. Many students had studied but many did not. We then applied the divisibility rules to find a factor rainbow of a number.
Oct 10 - Sorry I haven't updated this. I was gone for a few days and got out of the habit. I will try and do better.
Students have been discussing 6N3 - Factors and Multiples. Today we discussed how to figure out a way that might be easier than going through every number and seeing if it was divisible. We discovered what we called the "Divisibility Rules". Each student is to come home this weekend and study the rules. For their quiz on Tuesday they will need to know the divisibility rules of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10. The student will be required to state the rule and give examples and non examples and explain why the meet and do not meet the rule.
Sept 27 - Continued work on 6N4 - Fractions. Students worked on a handout about fractions. Page 15 & 16 are for homework due Monday.
Sept 26 - Introduced 6N4 - Fractions. Discussed how a fraction is a part of a whole or part of a group. Used the fraction blocks to explore fractions.
Sept 24 - Practiced order of operations by playing a game on LearnAlberta.ca Try your hand at it.
Sept 18 - 6SP3 - Graph data and analyze graph to solve problems. We discussed important parts of a graph - Title of graph, titles for both x and y axis and label graph properly. Went through several graphs and discussed how to interpret the graphs. Students were then assigned questions 3,4, and 5 to be completed by tomorrow.
Sept 17 - Reviewed multiplication of 2 digit by a 2 digit number and were given a worksheet to be completed and checked for tomorrow.
