What we did in class today in Math 9
Oct 21 - Took a check up on 9SS1 Circle Properties.
Oct 16 - Continued with 9SS1 Circle Properties and worked on pg 390 questions 11, 13 - 20.
Oct 15 - Today we learned about tangent to a circle in 9SS1 Circle Properties and practiced a few questions. Students worked on page We just touched the surface and will continue on this for the rest of the week. Those students who are attending the Student Council retreat will need to catch up on the work that they missed.
Oct 10 - Sorry I haven't updated this. I was gone for a few days and got out of the habit. I will try and do better.
Students have been discussing 9SS1 Circle Properties this past week and will continue all of next week.
Today we discussed chord properties in a circle and how chords can be used to find the center of a circle as well as how chords can help find the length of a line segment. The lesson today was in Chapter 10 Lesson 10.2. Students were assigned page 390 questions 7 -10, 12.
Sept 26 - Students used their Formative assessment from yesterday to make corrections and better understand 9N2 - Exponent Laws
Sept 24 - 9N2 - Exponent laws
Talked more about exponent laws, and order of operations with exponents in them. Students were assigned questions from textbook Chapter 3 Section 3.2 - pg 111 questions 6, 8 - 15, 17, 19
Sept 23 - Discussed powers and power laws. Students were given a question with two possible solutions. They had to find out which solution was correct and correct the mistake in the other solution.
Sept 18 - Continued with understanding 9N1 -Powers with integral bases. We learned about the different exponent laws - multiplying exponents with same bases, dividing exponents with same bases, the power of a power law, and that any base with an exponent of zero was equal to one. Chapter 3.2 Questions 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, and 21 pg 106 were assigned and due for Monday.
Sept 17 - We worked 9N1 - Powers
We learned what the different parts of a power were, that the exponent expressed repeated multiplication of the base, and that -9 raised to an exponent and (-9) raised to an exponent meant different things.
Discussed orally questions 4 - 11 pg 97 in class and then assigned question 12 pg 97 for homework.
Sept 16 - Took check up for 9SS2 - Surface Area of Composite Solids
Oct 16 - Continued with 9SS1 Circle Properties and worked on pg 390 questions 11, 13 - 20.
